A Teen Moment

I have always consider my self a patient and full of love and grace parent. Then I had boys.. I love my boys so much it hurts. I watched, cared, loved then when they were small. Now is the true test of my love and time.
There is were the rubber meets the road so to speak. I am always reading a good christian based book on parenting, TEENS. Because i am so clueless when it comes to TEEN Boys. I don't know them like when they were little. Its like We woke up and  the invasion of the body snatches came and snatched my sweet little tike's and replace them with half grown boys with hormones. Yikes.
This latest book helped me greatly. It stated teens are not programed to be Appreciative. Not in there nature. Their nature is self .. Second i am to serve them as I serve Christ. They are my mission field. They are aliens, speak a different language, have different customs(gaming, music, friends, etc). I am to get into their world and to know them like i would have to if i was going to Mexico or Africa. I am to teach them to appreciate others and God. Easier said then done.
Some days i am not up to the challenge, but during those days i need to remember that I am like that teenager needed to loved by God....

friday at last

Today is Friday in my house that means PIZZA.... We have this wonderful tradition for years, I am not sure when it started but I know if I discontinue it, the natives will hold a rebellion. I have changed the way I make our family pizza nite. I started with using my husbands family dough and sauce recipe. Then I switched I use a dough from all old church cookbook. Its so easy the dough doesn't need to raise.. Praise the Lord I can make it at 5 and eat by 6pm!!!!! I made up my own sauce because I wanted to be like Pizza hut.. ha Most people think that my sauce is  a little bit too garlic for them. But we enjoy a healthy dose of garlic. We after Pizza would play a family game. This too has changed with our children because they are not quite into candyland as they use to be.
It is nice because now we can play cards. Adult style; meaning more mind use and fun. Our main games are phase ten, international, rummy k, and some cranium games that involve 4 players.
We are so blessed to have this time as a family and the end of a hectic week. It starts the weekend off right with Family Nite.

Pizza Sauce
1 qt jar of tomato sauce
1 tbsp. basil
1 tbsp. sugar
1\2 tbsp. garlic
mix and spread on dough

Amish peanut butter Spread

YUM YUM IS TODAY YUMMY POST.... I LOVE MAKING AMISH PEANUT BUTTER SPREAD..
A Few years ago my parents took my husband and I to an amish settlement about an hour from my home town in montana. We had reservations at the Dinner Bell an amish family owned resturant. They were only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We were served this heavenly spread on homemade bread. All you can eat and gee i must have eaten a bowl of it my self. I purchased the cookbook offered and the first thing I tried was the Amish spread. Like all Amish food stuffs, this makes alot and I was soon giving it away because we should really eat that much. When I make it now I narrow it down to a simple quaintly but it still makes alot.
Spreads like this one are often served after their long Sunday service. They also make a cheese spread as well but today is the peanut spread.
Amish peanut butter Spread:
2lbs of creamy peanut butter
2 lbs of marshmallow cream
Then add 3 cup of Mrs. Buttersworth pancake Syrup that is maple flavored.
Then add 1 cup of very hot water and stir, stir and stir.... It will look very creamy and lite brown most of marshmallow cream should be dissolved and no lumps. Spread on homemade bread or toast. I am trying a small container of it to freeze so let you know how that works out Enjoy

what a good day

Yesterday was such a fun day for the family. We worked in the yard, doing things that would make some earth day people happy... Then we had a treat and game. Finishing the day off by going to the river to play out the sunshine. The boys dug canals and got muddy. So much fun to be had. I love listening to the river ripple over the rocks. Lots of sand brought memories of summer. My youngest said i wish i didn't have to go to school tomorrow. I think he has an itch for summer. He also suggested that next time he should bring his swimming suit. Well maybe i not sure the water isn't too warm to swim in.

Today i will be making A Big pot of Spaghetti the boys love spaghetti and i even might bake some yummy french bread. Happy Monday

On quiet day at home

New Blog: I haven't done a blog for a year. Its time to start a new song so to speak. I live in the country small town 300 people, several thousand head of cattle and horses. but i am going to focus on the homemaking  of my world.
Today i is one of those lovely spring days in montana: The snow is falling thick and fast and i have some much to accomplish before the day is done. I was going to do a load of wash but weather permitting not a good idea, since i love hanging out my laundry.
So i guess it back to original plan A finish off a baby quilt. This Quilt is so fun i made it for a boy. The main part of the quilt is airplanes and helicopers. The combining colors are white, blue and Red. It 's very patriotic and easy. The square it self is the Kings Square. The square is only 8 inches. I prefer to make the squares bigger but i am using up scraps and this was prefect for the amount of material on hand.
I have been on a fast of sorts not to buy material because i have too much. And it is a sickness i have not to buy a yard of this or a yard of that. I have learned with much kicking and screaming to be content with what i have. I will post photos later of the quilt that i am doing up.
I am going to put dinner in the crockpot about noonish since i am busy with serveral projects and this is nice for me so i have no worries: Here is my yummy recipe:
BEEF IN ONION GRAVY:
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 tbsp. onion soup mix
2 tbsp. beef broth
1 lb. stew meat cut in to 1 inch pieces we use venison in place of beef
place everything in slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours. serve with mash potatoes.
